Asda reveals layout of new superstore

The countdown is on for the opening of the £25 million-plus Asda superstore in Keighley in less than a fortnight’s time. Senior store manager Karl Brown said Asda would be the first supermarket in the area to offer halal baby food in its café and sell halal meat on its shelves.

Opinion: I feel that the writer of the letter “Halal cert and hotels” (The Star, June 30) is biased, not to mention playing the blame game.Why blame the Halal Industry Develop­ment Corporation (HDC) for slow issuance of the Halal certificate? Did the writer bother to find out what these “petty and less important” issues are?

FG Multifarm Aims To Be Regional Goat Supplier

Kuching:Sole proprietor, Jeli Bohari Biha, said FG Multifarm went direct to Australia to import the goats which produce good meat, adapt well to the Malaysian climate and can grow up to 70-80 kg per animal, because there was not enough local supply.
"We can actually be a regional supplier of both live goats and goat meat as well as for the halal market in the Middle East, and we have achieved this to a certain extent with the Brunei market asking for more," he said.

UK: Halal market brings big opportunities

More than 100 senior managers from throughout the food chain have been briefed on the opportunities offered by the growing demand for halal meat.
“There are tremendous opportunities with the Muslim population in Europe and the UK growing faster then the rest of the population,” said Mohammad Nazir, chairman of the West Midlands Minority Ethnic Business Forum and a Director of the UK Halal Corporation.
