The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will host the second international edition of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) in Shanghai, China (MIHAS@Shanghai) that is scheduled to take place from 5-10 November 2025, in conjunction with the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025.

“This prestigious event provides a key platform for Malaysian businesses to showcase their products and expand their market presence in China, thereby enhancing their global competitiveness,” MATRADE said, noting that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the China International Import Expo Bureau (CIIE Bureau) to strengthen trade relations between Malaysia and China.

MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the partnership would allow both parties to leverage their combined strengths strategically, fostering mutual growth and creating new opportunities for success.

“Through international events, Malaysian companies will gain a direct pathway to expand their market reach into China and its surrounding regions. This collaboration presents immense potential to crease lasting value, enhance global visibility and further strengthen networks that will position both MATRADE and CIIE for future growth in the global marketplace,” he said.

Meanwhile, MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said the collaboration with CIIE offers strong potential in event promotion, allowing both parties to maximise their strengths and gain significant benefits from international events.

“These events offer a unique platform for global exposure, creating opportunities for Malaysian companies to forge valuable partnerships, increase brand visibility and expand their markets into China and surrounding areas,” he noted, adding that the registration period for companies to participate in MIHAS@Shanghai is now open.

Previously, the MIHAS event that was held in Dubai (MIHAS@Dubai) in November 2024, involving 14 strategically located parks covering 80,937 hectares comprising multinational corporations as well as SMEs

According to Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that the participation of 17 entrepreneurs – under the Gate to Global (GTG) programme by MARA – represent sectors such as food and beverages (F&B) as well as health and wellness products. The initial target sales potential of MIHAS@Dubai was RM100 million.
